Sydney Olympic Park

We went to the Olympic Park first thing and it was actually way cool. The Sydney Olympics was in 2000, but the olympic park was planned way before that. Before Sydney even won the olympic lottery thing (meaning they got to hold it in 2000) they had plans to make that area of the city into a sports area. The only thing that changed when they won the lottery was the size of the arenas and the additions of a few more areas. Sydney is one of the few, if only, places that has continued to generate revenue from their olympic arenas and stadiums. In the stadium they let us run through the place where the athletes ran through for the opening ceremonies and they played music loud for us and everything, it was way cool. Afterwards we went through the tunnel that the athletes used to go between the practice field and the main stadium for their events. Sydney took away their track from the main stadium and use the old practice track as a competition track now. This is because for cricket and rugby the correct size of the field is bigger than what the track had. After all that we went into the Olympic pool and got to swim in it! That was awesome. Oh, also we got to stand on the actual podiums that were used in the olympics. That was way sweet.
